How HoodBags works

A complete tour of the platform — from signing in and connecting a wallet to composing a bag, deploying it on Robinhood Chain, minting baskets and following where every $HOODBAGS fee goes.

What HoodBags is

HoodBags is a creator-led index protocol on Robinhood Chain. A bag is a basket of verified onchain assets — tokenized stocks, memecoins and stablecoins — bundled into a single token anyone can mint or redeem.

  • Every bag has a name, a thesis and a public composition with fixed weights.
  • Bags are created off-chain as drafts, then deployed onchain through the BagFactory contract.
  • Nothing on the platform shows simulated prices or invented performance — values come from live quotes or the chain.
  • Stock tokens are not available in the US; the interface surfaces this everywhere it matters.

Accounts and sign-in

You can sign in with email and password, or with a wallet signature. Both routes lead to the same private dashboard.

  • Email sign-up sends a branded confirmation mail; password recovery is available from the sign-in screen.
  • Wallet sign-in asks you to sign a free message — no transaction, no gas — and links that wallet to your account.
  • Your dashboard, drafts, portfolio and watchlist are private to you and protected by row-level security.

Connecting a wallet

The connect button lists the main wallets and detects any that are available in the current browser. WalletConnect covers everything else.

  • Supported directly: MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom, Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow and Robinhood.
  • Connections always target Robinhood Chain (chain 4663) and will prompt you to switch or add the network.
  • A connection stays remembered until you disconnect; the dashboard shows provider, address, network status and native balance.
  • You stay in your own browser — the app never redirects you into a wallet's in-app browser.

Asset registry

Only verified contract addresses can go into a bag. The registry currently holds 256 Robinhood Chain contracts: 203 tokenized stocks, 51 community tokens and 1 stablecoin, plus base assets.

  • Browse the full list on the Assets page with logos, symbols and explorer links.
  • Live prices are fetched and cached; when a quote can't be verified the asset shows as unavailable instead of guessing.
  • The bag builder uses the same registry through a searchable dropdown, so no unverified address can slip in.
  • Assets must also be allowlisted in the factory contract before a bag containing them can deploy.

Creating a bag

The builder lives inside your dashboard. You compose the basket, choose the mandate, save it as a draft and publish when you're ready.

  • Pick components from the registry and set weights — the total must add up to 100%.
  • Locked mandate: the composition can never change. Managed mandate: changes are allowed but announced publicly.
  • Add a name, ticker, thesis and mascot so the bag has an identity people can recognise.
  • A draft becomes a public registry entry only after it has an onchain contract address.

Deploying onchain

Deployment turns a draft into a real bag token through the BagFactory. The deploy dialog runs a checklist before letting you sign.

  • Checks: wallet connected, correct network, valid component addresses, components allowlisted, factory configured.
  • Creating a bag costs a fixed 100,000 $HOODBAGS fee, approved from your wallet before deployment.
  • If components are not yet allowlisted, the platform owner can approve them in one transaction from the admin area.
  • Once deployed, the bag gets its own token contract and appears in the public registry with an explorer link.

Minting and redeeming

Deployed bags show a live trade panel on their public page. Mint deposits the underlying components; redeem returns them.

  • Mint: approve each component token, then mint whole baskets in one transaction.
  • Redeem: burn bag tokens and receive the underlying components back at the same weights.
  • The panel shows your balances, current allowances, required amounts and the fee before you sign.
  • Every action returns a transaction receipt with a direct explorer link.

Swapping assets (HoodBags DEX)

The Swap page trades any verified Robinhood Chain asset from inside HoodBags, routed through the Uniswap v3 liquidity that already exists on the chain.

  • Pick two assets, enter an amount and see a live quote, the route taken, minimum received and price impact.
  • Routing tries the direct pool first and otherwise hops through WETH or USDG, always choosing the deepest fee tier.
  • Quotes are produced by the same contract that executes the trade, so the preview and the result cannot drift apart.
  • HoodBags charges 0.30% on the token you sell and sends the full fee to the treasury.
  • Nothing is custodial — tokens move from your wallet, through the pools, back to your wallet in one transaction.

Portfolio and tracking

The portfolio page tracks the bags you hold and the bags you created, using live component prices.

  • Bag value is computed from real quotes of each component at its weight — never from placeholder numbers.
  • Value snapshots are stored over time and drawn as a history chart.
  • Creator view shows the bags you launched, their status and any rewards accrued to you.
  • Your watchlist keeps the bags you follow one tap away.

$HOODBAGS, fees and burns

$HOODBAGS is the fee currency of the protocol. Every bag creation fee is split by the FeeManager contract on a fixed schedule.

  • 50% of every fee is sent to the burn address and permanently destroyed.
  • 25% is streamed back to existing bag creators as claimable rewards.
  • 25% goes to the platform treasury for development and liquidity.
  • The burn ledger page shows the running totals; all three destination addresses are owner-updatable onchain and public.

Deployed contracts

Every protocol contract is live on Robinhood Chain (chain id 4663) and publicly verifiable on the explorer.

  • $HOODBAGS token: 0xCafc39D45B0D094db9FA37F4C46B57B659Dc85F0 — fixed 1B supply, no mint, 1% buy / 1% sell fee, 0% transfer fee, fees to the treasury.
  • BagFactory: 0xE3Aa8dB3d7d85DF79c004D056C02Fd8878953638 — deploys bags, charges the 100,000 $HOODBAGS creation fee (50% burned, 25% creators, 25% treasury).
  • FeeManager: 0xcdD7239991F7310a32B19a01a368EA53eFb94dB5 — holds mint/redeem fee logic and holder tiers.
  • Swap router: 0xDd2c50ff68991E6243dc3C91FbBeB6F3dc16Bec0 — 0.30% fee on every swap, sent in full to the treasury; native ETH supported.
  • Treasury: 0xedcB9ca2BC616a1fC46cF3860d3A049aB0239D53 — receives token taxes and swap fees; owner can sweep to the burn wallet.
  • Uniswap v3 factory: 0x1f7d7550B1b028f7571E69A784071F0205FD2EfA — liquidity venue the router trades through.

Explore and leaderboards

Public pages let anyone browse the registry without an account.

  • Explore lists every published bag with its composition, creator and mandate type.
  • Each bag has its own page with a composition donut, creator notes and a share card.
  • Leaderboards rank creators and bags by real metrics only — published bags, watchers and views.
  • Empty states say so honestly instead of showing invented rankings.

Admin tools (owner only)

The admin area is invisible unless the connected wallet is the BagFactory owner. It never appears for regular users.

  • Allowlist: approve verified assets in batches so creators can build without owner involvement.
  • Settings: update the $HOODBAGS token address, burn wallet, treasury, FeeManager, fee amount and split.
  • Users: every signed-up account and every wallet that has connected, with their bags, valuations and holdings.
  • Access requires a one-time free signature linking the owner wallet to the signed-in account.
